Deborah Kirkland, LPC-S

Hello! I’m Deborah Kirkland, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, proudly rooted in Nacogdoches, Texas. My academic journey at Stephen F. Austin State University led me through History, English, Teaching, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I often joke that it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up—but all of these fields share a common thread: the power of story and the desire to help others find meaning in their own.

From a young age, I’ve been captivated by the human experience and the stories that shape who we are. That passion guides my counseling approach today—one that is personal, collaborative, and deeply attuned to each client’s unique journey.

Therapy is more than a profession for me—it’s a calling that grew from my own experiences navigating anxiety and depression. I understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed or uncertain about the next step. My work is built on empathy, authenticity, and helping clients reconnect with their true selves. Together, we uncover what’s getting in the way of peace and growth, and we create a path forward rooted in your values and strengths.

Over the years, I’ve supported individuals healing from trauma, including childhood abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other painful life events. I also help adults manage anxiety, depression, and the challenges of late-diagnosed autism. My therapeutic approach integrates EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support meaningful, lasting change.

As a private-pay practice, my work is designed to support flexible treatment planning and a personalized pace of care, free from external requirements. I strive to provide clear, transparent communication so you can make informed choices about your therapeutic journey..

Outside the therapy room, I love hiking in the Ozark Mountains, diving into a good book, and exploring nature photography. These moments remind me that healing often happens in the quiet, reflective spaces—just like in therapy.

If you’re ready to begin your own story of healing and growth, I’d love to connect
